LSLI is one of the largest providers of free civil legal assistance in New York. Since 1966, they have championed justice for low-income and disabled Long Islanders. They handle "poverty law" cases—meaning they protect people’s rights regarding housing (preventing evictions), healthcare access, domestic violence protection, and government benefits. They provide a "voice for the voiceless" in the legal system.
